Tyson Barrie reportedly signs a one year contract
The offensive defenseman earns himself $1.25 million.
According to a report from NHL insider Frank Seravalli, the Calgary Flames have signed veteran defenseman Tyson Barrie to a one year contract worth $1.25 million.
From Seravalli:
The 33 year old Barrie scored one goal and 15 points in 41 games with the Nashville Predators last season.
He's just a couple years removed from some stellar 40+ point seasons quarterbacking the powerplay for the Edmonton Oilers, however.
The problem that plagued Barrie for his entire NHL career though has been his defensive play. No one has every denied that Barrie is a supremely skilled offensive player, but these days you simply have to be a well rounded offensive/defensive blueliner in order to play regular minutes on an NHL defensive corps.
