Two-time Stanley Cup champion lands on waivers!
This veteran forward is now available on waivers for immediate boost up front.
While no one was placed on waivers on Tuesday, one significant name ended up on the wire on Wednesday. The Tampa Bay Lightning has placed veteran forward Conor Sheary on waivers.
Sheary is a two-time Stanley Cup champion when he won the championship with the Pittsburgh Penguins in back to back years in 2016 and 2017. He was never drafted but was signed as a free agent by the Pens in 2015.
He’s since moved around quite a bit, playing for the Buffalo Sabres before a short return to Pittsburgh, only to sign as a free agent with the Washington Capitals in 2020 and then with the Bolts in the summer of 2023. Sheary carries a $2M AAV and is signed through the end of next season.
Sheary’s time in Tampa hasn’t gone to plan, especially after missing an extended period of time last year due to an upper-body injury. He went on to become a healthy scratch on more than one occasion and his confidence seems shaken. Perhaps a change of scenery could do some good to his career.
In 2023-24, his four goals in 57 games were his lowest ever, and his 15 points were undermined only by the 10 he recorded in 44 games with the Penguins during his rookie season of 2015-16.
This season, he has yet to collect a point in three outings.
