The rumour was still going when forward Pierre-Luc Dubois was fighting for his Winnipeg Jets to stay alive in the postseason. However, many insiders and pundits see the possibility of Dubois getting moved to the Montreal Canadiens, especially since he is scheduled to become a restricted free agent for the last time in his career in July. There is also the constant reminder that Dubois would love to play for his hometown team and has links to Montreal that could see him get the perfect fit with the Canadiens.
However, Sportsnet’s Kevin Wiebe, an insider for the Jets, believes two other contenders could join the Dubois sweepstakes with the Boston Bruins potentially facing the next season with veterans Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci. Wiebe also points to the Colorado Avalanche, who will actively look for someone to take on Gabriel Landeskog’s role as he is expected to miss the entire 2023-24 campaign following knee surgery.
While the Canadiens might still have the edge in terms of location and the ideal fit personally for Dubois, the Avalanche and Bruins have proven to be top contenders for the Stanley Cup in the near future which could tempt Dubois more than a shot at playing closer to home.
Stay tuned.
