Two Maple Leafs return to practice on Monday morning.
The Maple Leafs welcomed back two of their regulars to practice on Monday morning.
The Toronto Maple Leafs performed admirably over the weekend despite missing two of their regulars from their lineup. The Maple Leafs welcomed former general manager Kyle Dubas and his Pittsburgh Penguins to town on Saturday, dispatching them in humiliating fashion 7-0 despite not having star forward Auston Matthews and defenseman T.J. Brodie in the lineup.
Both men were sidelined due to illness, in Matthews' case just moments before the game, but on Monday morning the Maple Leafs received some good news when both men were spotted back at practice.
Maple Leafs reporter David Alter shared an image of Matthews hitting the ice with his teammates, a sign that the star forward is very likely to be available tomorrow when the Maple Leafs face the New York Rangers.
Alter also shared an image of Brodie hitting the ice with his teammates, again a sign that the veteran defenseman is likely to be back in the lineup for Tuesday game against the Rangers.
The flu bug has been making its way through the Maple Leafs locker room, and one can only hope that Matthews and Brodie will be the last two casualties of that illness.
