A new era of Chicago Blackhawks hockey with the drafting of phenom forward Connor Bedard follows what was the closing of one of the great chapters in team history.

Gone are both Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, who helped lead the team essentially back from the dead and were integral parts of three Stanley Cup championships; they'll both be getting their jersey number retired whenever it is that their playing careers come to a close.

Kane was acquired by the New York Rangers from the Blackhawks in exchange for a conditional 2023 second-round pick and a 2023 fourth-round pick. Toews, the longtime captain of the Chicago Blackhawks, played his final game with the franchise in last season's home finale at United Center against the Philadelphia Flyers. Toews scored a goal for good measure, and got a proper sendoff from the crowd afterward.

While Toews' health has cast doubt upon his future playing in the NHL, it doesn't sound as though he's quite ready to call it a career on hockey's biggest stage. And apparently, it wasn't his decision that his time with Chicago was over. In fact, it sounds as though that was purely a move made by team management, led by general manager Kyle Davidson.

They both remain on the free agent market as of Friday evening. Where exactly where they be continuing their NHL careers?
