HockeyFeed
It’s been 170 days since the Washington Capitals captured their first Stanley Cup in franchise history and just 160 days since former head coach Barry Trotz left the organization. Trotz shocked the world by resigning from his position over a contract dispute just 10 days after hoisting the Stanley Cup. Less than two weeks later he’d come to terms with the division rival New York Islanders.
Today Trotz FINALLY received his Stanley Cup ring as he and the Islanders host the Caps in Brooklyn this evening. Prior to the game, Trotz listed the Caps locker room to receive his ring and catch up with some of his former players. He also delivered an emotional speech laden with expletives that’s sure to put a smile on any hockey fan’s face.
Check it out:
How awesome is that?!
Regardless of how you feel about the way things went down between the Caps and Trotz at the end, there’s no denying the fact that the veteran head coach is sincere in his adoration for his former players. Business is business, but thanks to Trotz work behind the bench the players on the 2017-18 Capitals squad can call themselves champions for eternity.
