Anaheim Ducks star forward Trevor Zegras returned from an ankle injury against the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night since being out of action since early January after having surgery to repair an ankle fracture. His Ducks had back to back games in Seattle, and during last night’s contest, Zegras look to get a win after falling 4-0 on Tuesday.
Unfortunately for him, the Ducks struggled in the game and, during the third period, Zegras was sent to the penalty for a holding and cross checking minors against Brandon Tanev, which infuriated him.
In the penalty next to teammate Ryan Strome, who had been penalized seconds before, Zegras flipped out and started smashing the penalty box camera in frustration. And still, at the point in the game, the score was tied at 2.
You can tell by the way Strome is looking at him that he knew his teammate was going over the line. Here is the sequence right here:
In his second game back from injury, Zegras did not collect a point and only managed to record a shot on goal, along with his six penalty minutes. The Ducks once again fell to the Kraken, 4-2, this time.
It has been a frustrating season for Zegras, who has not only missed time twice due to injuries, but also lost his best friend defenseman Jamie Drysdale, who was traded along with and a high draft pick to the Philadelphia Flyers in return for prospect forward Cutter Gauthier.
The scene from the penalty box from last night’s game pretty much resumes the type of season it has been for Zegras and the Ducks in 2023-24.
