On Thursday, Brock Boeser’s mother, Laurie Boeser, took to the family’s Caring Bridge page to provide this update on her husband Duke, stating: “Our beloved Duke is skating his last lap around the hockey rink. He is at our home resting. Our family is close by his side. He’s had some wonderful visits from family, friends and neighbors. Please pray for his comfort and peace as he makes his way home to our heavenly father. And please pray for our children as this is so very hard for them to let go.”
On Friday, the Vancouver Canucks announced that Duke Boeser had passed away.
Boeser’s father suffers from Parkison’s, cancer and dementia and even sustained a brain injury in a car accident. Duke Boeser was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the age of 49 . Two years after his Parkinson’s diagnosis, things got even worse when he broke his pelvis in three places, suffered a lacerated spleen, as well as a further brain injury when someone ran a red light and T-boned the vehicle he was in.
At the end of the year press conference for the Canucks, Brock Boeser teared up and left the media availability when asked about his dad’s status.
“He’s not doing well,” Boeser said through tears. “He has pretty bad dementia right now. It’s onset, and he’s had it pretty bad this year. It’s really hit me hard.”
This has to be a devastating news for the star forward...
This is heartbreaking for Brock and his family. Here at HF, we send our support to the entire Boeser family.
