Trade involving Tony DeAngelo falling apart.
There was a lot of talk of a Tony DeAngelo trade, but that seems to have now hit a roadblock.
What initially sounded like it would be an extremely busy and exciting Saturday night to the Philadelphia Flyers actually came and went without so much as a whimper, and it may very well be that things are starting to fall apart.
Early in the evening on Saturday we began to hear reports of a potentially monstrous deal being finalized between the Philadelphia Flyers and the St. Louis Blues. In spite of multiple reports from several credible insiders however that trade has seemingly stalled, and it's not the only one.
While working on that very same trade with the Blues, Flyers general manager Daniel Briere was reportedly also having talks with the Carolina Hurricanes about a potential trade involving Flyers defenseman Tony DeAngelo. The trade, as per NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, would have seen the Flyers retain 50% of DeAngelo's salary and would have seen them receive an unnamed Hurricanes prospect in exchange for the veteran DeAngelo at a reduced cost.
That trade now appears to also be falling apart with Pierre LeBrun reporting on Sunday morning that the deal "hit a snag last night." Furthermore LeBrun believes the entire deal is now in jeopardy, and may not materialize at all.
The Flyers are clearly looking towards the future and do not see Tony DeAngelo as a part of those plans, so failing to get a return for him could potentially be a blow to the team.
