The Edmonton Oilers’ offense could get even deadlier ahead of the 2024 postseason. According to Darren Dreger, Oilers general manager Ken Holland might be seeking a dream scenario in which star forward Leon Draisaitl would be the main beneficiary. This is what Dreger reported in last night’s edition of Insider Trading on TSN:

“What about the Edmonton Oilers? Now in a perfect scenario, we know the Oilers would like to add a forward to help Leon Draisaitl in the top six. But, they’re also looking at what Adam Henrique might bring from the Anaheim Ducks as a third-line center. So there are several options that the veteran general manager Ken Holland is looking at in Edmonton as well.”

In recent weeks, the Oilers have been linked to Pittsburgh Penguins’ Jake Guentzel and Seattle Kraken’s Jordan Eberle, but they might come at too high a price for Holland.

And let’s be honest. In Edmonton, you have a core group of forwards that is almost incomparable with any other team in the league! Should we name them? Draisaitl is there, and then you add captain Connor McDavid, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Zach Hyman and Evander Kane. That’s quite loaded up front and I believe there is a chance that Ryan McLeod, Corey Perry or even Dylan Holloway can audition for a spot on the second line…

Some fans are hoping that Holland will focus on more pressing issues ahead of the postseason and look to acquire some help on the back end, and maybe this is what the GM should be focusing on with less than three weeks to go prior to the March 8 deadline.

Holland always finds a way to surprise fans and so I guess it will be no different this time around.
