Forward Morgan Frost got another chance under Philadelphia Flyers’ head coach John Tortorella when he was inserted back into the lineup of Monday after he was made a healthy scratches for several games earlier this season. The feud between Frost and Torts caught the attention of rival teams across the league, especially when Sportsnet’s Elliotte
Friedman expressed the belief that it could lead to a trade, especially since Frost was just recently re-signed to a contract extension. This is what Friedman had said then:
“Morgan Frost is a little different. Philadelphia just re-signed him, have invested a lot of time in him, and he was fourth in team scoring last season. But if he doesn’t play — just two appearances so far — something will have to give.”
However, since Frost was inserted back into the Flyers’ lineup, Friedman now reports in his latest 32 Thoughts column that the forward is not looking to be moved, wanting to stay put in Philly.
“Seventeen minutes for Morgan Frost on Monday, 16 on Wednesday after two weeks out of the lineup. As I write this, he’s not asked for a trade. Teams have called the Flyers, but I don’t sense anything serious. The player prefers to make it work in Philadelphia.”
Frost may have had a career-high 19 goals last season and led the Flyers with 40 points over the last 55 games, he was off to a slow start this season. Since his return on Monday, Frost has yet to record a point though he did registered three shots in total. He needs to fire more and one will sure get in, and in the meantime, he must remain on Torts’ good side to make sure he can show off his offensive talents on the ice.
Next game is later on tonight against the Buffalo Sabres. Let’s see if Frost can find the back of the net then.
