Rather than admitting to a frankly embarrassing error in judgment, The Toronto Sun is instead choosing to double down on their mistake.
For those of you who may have missed it, the Sun's Lance Hornby penned a rather elitist headline following the Toronto Maple Leafs' 2-1 overtime victory over the Anaheim Ducks in overtime that read, "Auston Matthews saves day in OT after no-name goalie vexes Maple Leafs."
The so-called "no-name" goalie is Lukas Dostal, who had himself a performance for the ages by making an incredible 55 saves, a career-high in his young career. And naturally, it wasn't long before the pushback began on social media that even included a public rebuking from the Anaheim Ducks' official social media account.
In today's headline, the Sun continued the war of words with the Ducks and angry fans that even included those who cheer for the Leafs:
A quick excerpt from the piece:
"If the Ducks had bothered to read the story, written by Lance Hornby, they would’ve found a complimentary tone, complete with praise from Leafs star and game-winning goal scorer Auston Matthews.
