The Toronto Maple Leafs entered the 2023 NHL Draft with the 28 overall selection, and while there was some speculation that they could perhaps move the pick in a trade to try and move up, they instead stood pat and announced Easton Cowan from the London Knights as the newest member of their organization.
He had just come off a successful campaign with the London Knights last season, scoring 20 goals with 33 assists in 68 games played, and he's enjoyed an even better year this season with an impressive 34 goals and 62 assists in 54 games.
And thanks to his hot streak, he's now surpassed 2023 No. 1 overall draft selection Connor Bedard for the 3rd longest point streak in CHL history:
Ahead of him now are only former Rimouski Océanic forward Sidney Crosby (37 games), and Quebec Remparts forward Alexander Radulov (50 games) .
Cowan is officially under contract with the Leafs, having agreed to a three-year entry level contract worth $935,833 AAV.
