In case you somehow missed the news in the aftermath of the Vegas Golden Knights' Stanley Cup victory over the Florida Panthers, superstar Matthew Tkachuk sat Game 5 out with what was suspected to be a shoulder injury. After the game, it was confirmed that Tkachuk indeed has an upper body injury, in fact, it's a fractured sternum.
Ouch. That hurts just to read... I can't imagine playing an NHL hockey game with that kind of injury..
Today Tkachuk met with the media for the first time since the Panthers' season ended and detailed the severity of his injury. Specifically, he talked about the 'team effort' that was required to get him into the lineup for Game 4.
More pertinently though, Tkachuk admitted that he doesn't know if he'll need surgery this offseason in order to be ready for the 2023-24 season. If you're a Panthers fan, that's got to make you nervous.
