The Carolina Hurricanes are not happy about this.

During Game 4 of the opening round Stanley Cup playoff series between the Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils, Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen suffered an injury after his net was crashed by Devils forward Timo Meier.

The incident occurred only a few minutes into the game's second period when Meier appeared to lower his shoulder and charge into Andersen, although the contact did not appear to be intentional. Instead Meier was trying to receive a puck in front of the net and as he reached out for that, he seemed to fall off balance as a result of contact with Andersen's leg, resulting in him crashing into the Hurricanes goaltender.

Both Andersen's leg and head seemed to take some significant contact and it was clear after the impact that Andersen was not going to be ok. The veteran goaltender remained inside of his net, literally, sprawled out on his back for several moments before getting up and leaving the ice.

Andersen appeared to be out of it as he tried to regain his senses, which could point to a potential head injury, but it was too difficult to tell from the angles that we have exactly what type of injury he may have suffered here. Making matters worse for the Hurricanes, there was a penalty called on the play but after a video review that call was overturned, meaning the Hurricanes have lost their goaltender without even so much as a power play to show for it.
