Thomas Chabot slashes Travis Hamonic in the face!
What the hell was he thinking?
Thomas Chabot is probably going to get a stern talking to over this particular bit of foolishness.
Chabot nearly took out one of his own teammates on Saturday during an afternoon game contested between the Ottawa Senators and the Nashville Predators when he let his frustration get the best of him.
Chabot was upset about a collision that had occurred previously behind the Senators' net, one in which Nashville Predators forward Nino Niederreiter dropped Chabot to the ice with a reverse hit.
Here's a look at the hit:
As Chabot got back to the bench he let his anger at the hit show by swinging his stick wildly into the stantion, or at least it seems that is what he tried to do. Unfortunately for Chabot, and even more unfortunate for Senators defenseman Travis Hamonic, his teammate Travis Hamonic was in the path of his swing. Due to the angle of the camera it is hard to say just how hard the blow from Chabot proved to be, but judging from Hamonic's reaction on the bench he was stunned by the unexpected blow.
Luckily for Chabot it appears as though Hamonic has avoided any serious injury, and the tough veteran defenseman has remained in the game. It also seems likely that he won't have to worry about any calls from NHL Player Safety over this particular hit to the head.
