Each and every year I find myself looking forward to Halloween, not because of all the delicious candy that is around at the time, but because I genuinely love seeing what whacky and creative ideas people will have for their costumes each year.
The National Hockey League is no exception to this rule and in fact it seems as though every year the players in the league elevate their game and bring out better and better costumes, this year being no different. We had some excellent submissions this year and it was hard to pick out the best among the pack, but we've done our best here.
Here are some of our favorite costumes of this Halloween season as worn by NHL players:
Nick Jensen and his wife, Jenner Jensen, did their best Nature Boy Ric Flair and Macho Man Randy Savage impersonations, and pulled it off pretty well.
Mathieu Joseph paid homage to rapper Lil Wayne and I must admit he did a fantastic job of capturing Wheezy's iconic look.
Brady Tkachuk stuck to his Will Ferrell theme, having previously gone as Jackie Moon, this time going as Forensic accountant Allen Gamble from The Other Guys.
Nikita Zadorov pulled off a very clever costume, going as deceased designer Karl Lagerfeld and his infamous cat "Choupette" who inherited his fortune. The Chanel bag was a nice touch.
Blake Coleman went all out with the whole family and wished everyone a Happy Halloween from the Coleman Campers.
Nino Niederreiter's costume was simply out of this world.
I feel like P.K. Subban may have pulled this one out before, and honestly I might just be misremembering, but either way he does the King of Pop proud.
Dan Vladar went with a clever pun, going as Darth "Vladar" this time around. The baby Yoda was a great addition to the whole costume.
Last but definitely not least we have the entry from Mikael Backlund. Gotta give Backlund credit for having the cojones to pull of this costume, and he makes for such a beautiful angel.
