It's almost like the hockey gods have a serious beef with the Detroit Red Wings this season or something.
Just when they were back to near full strength during last night's game at Little Caesars Arena against the visiting Calgary Flames, defenseman Jake Walman was felled by a massive body check from Nikita Zadorov late in the 1st period and required assistance to the dressing room; he would return for the rest of the game, but did not participate in practice this morning.
Red Wings fans know all about having had to have played the majority of this season without Tyler Bertuzzi and Jakub Vrana. Meanwhile, Filip Zadina missed three months with a broken bone in his leg, while towering rookie forward Elmer Soderblom has also missed time on the shelf.
And now, add another important player to Detroit's extensive list of the walking wounded during this season. Forward Lucas Raymond was shaken up during practice after accidentally colliding with teammate Ben Chiarot, and gingerly made his way back towards the dressing room.
According to head coach Derek Lalonde, Raymond will be seeing a doctor and is considered "day to day", while Walman isn't expected to be available for tomorrow's afternoon game against the visiting Vancouver Canucks.
According to MLive beat writer Ansar Khan, it will be Dominik Kubalik coming back into the lineup tomorrow afternoon should Raymond ultimately not be able to play.
Tomorrow's game against the Canucks will begin at 12:00 PM EST.
