The five WORST goal songs in the National Hockey League
Do you agree with our list?
As the Stanley Cup Playoffs approach, fans are getting excited to see just how far their favorite team can go. And you can rest assured, there's no atmosphere in sports like a rocking NHL rink in the postseason.
This afternoon, we're taking a look at goal songs in the NHL that have earned the unfortunate rank of the worst in the League (in our humble, absolutely perfect and indisputable opinions). And sadly for a few of these teams, they'll have to wait until at least next season before they assault their fans' ears with this music in the postseason.
5. Columbus Blue Jackets - "The Whip" by Locksley
You'd think that you're getting some hard-rocking tunes from AC/DC as "For Those About To Rock" blares over the Nationwide Arena speakers along with the loud cannon blast, only to delve into this odd selection.
4. Vancouver Canucks - "Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds
Vancouver is apparently trying to make every home game a cheesy "80's night" celebration. Quite a far cry from the days of the legendary 2011 Stanley Cup Finals run with Green Day's "Holiday".
3. Philadelphia Flyers - "This Girl" by Kungs and Cookin'
There just are no words to describe how absolutely terrible this is. It was long long ago that the Flyers had "Bro Hymn" by Pennywise and Scooter's "Maria (I Like It Loud)" blaring over the speakers at Wells Fargo Center. The current horrible selection may as well serve as an appropriate representation of how the Flyers' season has gone this year.
2. Minnesota Wild - "Shout" by The Isley Brothers
Why? WHY on Earth did they stop using the classic Prince tune "Let's Go Crazy" in favor of making XCel Energy Center sound like a high school dance from 1959?
1. Toronto Maple Leafs - "You Make My Dreams Come True" by Hall and Oates
You just knew this one would top the list. Nothing says celebrating a goal by a storied Original 6 franchise than a slow paced, easy listening tune that has all of the excitement of boiled celery.
