Terrible update released on Ville Husso

Ugh, not what you wanted to hear.

It's increasingly evident that the Detroit Red Wings may need to part ways with goaltender Ville Husso. Not only has he struggled to maintain a goals-against average below 3.00 during his tenure with the Red Wings, but he's also been plagued by injuries.

And now, he's experienced yet another setback. Currently on loan with the American Hockey League affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins for a conditioning assignment, Husso was injured during the pre-game warm-ups this evening and is now unavailable to play; Sebastien Cossa will get the start against the Rockford Ice Hogs.

The news was announced by the Griffins' social media account:

Husso was felled by a lower-body injury during a game in late December at Little Caesars Arena, and missed several weeks of action. Upon his return in February, he barely lasted half of the 1st period before suffering yet another lower body injury and landed right back on Long Term Injured Reserve.

He pitched a shutout in his first game with the Griffins on his conditioning assignment, but posted a discouraging goals against average of 3.55 during his time with Detroit this season along with a .892 save percentage.

He has one year remaining on his current contract.
