It is nasty… It was easy to see that the puck Dallas Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen took to the face in Game 3 of his team's second-round series against the Seattle Kraken left a mark when he was back in action on Tuesday night for the fourth contest of the matchup.

However, the wound did more than leave a mark as head coach Pete DeBoer explained after the Stars’ 6-3 win to tie the series at 2-2. After all, the cut on his left cheek required more than half a dozen stitches and impacted Heiskanen’s ability to eat and sleep.

This all makes it even more impressive that Heiskanen was back in the lineup for Game 4, logging a game-high 31:02 of ice time and registered one assist.

“He’s an amazing athlete,” DeBoer added. “Ultracompetitive. Wants to win. Hard minutes. Hard minutes tonight. What do you say? He’s done it all year for us. He’s one of the best in the world at that position. He’s a warrior.”

Heiskanen has been more than a warrior, he’s been a crucial part of Dallas’ success this season and in the playoffs. He’s contributed eight assists through 10 contests in the postseason while averaging a whopping 28:01 of ice time, despite putting up just 11:12 before his early departure in Game 3 against the Kraken.

Maybe he can push the Stars to keep the momentum going on Thursday night to get the lead in the series against Seattle.
