Tensions rise in Predators’ dressing room after last night’s game!
Following another loss, the Predators are getting frustrated as the losses keep piling up.
The Nashville Predators were dealt another loss on Monday night, being shut out 3-0 by the Los Angeles Kings, falling to 4-7-1 record. No one expected that after the busy summer they had in which new general manager Barry Trotz added Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei in free agency.
Veteran forward Ryan O’Reilly did not hide his emotions after the game, admitting his play was pathetic.
“I know for myself I’m extremely frustrated,” he started off his post-game interview.
“I think that was one of the worst games of my career… I was pathetic.”
O’Reilly finished with one shot on goal in 15:22 minutes.
The dressing room felt the frustration as well with defenseman Luke Schenn, who dropped the gloved in a heated fight with Kings’ Tanner Jeannot in the second period, almost calling out some of his teammates for the lack of offense since the start of the season.
“We didn’t generate anything offensively,” Schenn said. “Perimeter only. We’ve been talking about it , but you’re not going to score goals unless you get inside . . . just not good enough.”
”I’m not singling anyone out, it’s just facts.”
Through 12 games, the Predators sit last in the Central Division and just one point ahead of the San Jose Sharks at the bottom of the Western Conference standings.
That in itself says a lot and adds to the frustration in Nashville. However, after the 3-0 loss to Los Angeles, head coach Andrew Brunette wanted to make sure his players were careful with their emotions, especially at this point in the season when it’s time to refocus and get back on track.
“[Frustration] is a dangerous emotion, and it’s getting the best of us,” Brunette said. “It’s kind of unfortunately leaked through almost the whole team.
“Frustration plays tricks on you. Frustration makes you think you’re actually working when you’re not working. Frustration actually makes you a poor teammate. Frustration is contagious. So those are some pretty bad things, and that’s kind of leaked through our group right now.”
The Preds are facing the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night and surely hope frustration will make room for celebration as they desperately need a win.
