Team Canada’s starting goalie has officially been named.
Carey Price will be 100% fit to play in September’s World Cup of Hockey.
Team Canada’s general manager Doug Armstrong told Sportsnet that arguably the world’s best goaltender will have to “shake off the rust” in order to get back into the groove of game situations.
During the roster selection, Armstrong was not sure that Price would be ready to start in Game 1 next month but wanted to have the 2015 Hart and Vezina trophies winner present during the process.
Luckily for Team Canada, the Habs’ superstar goalie’s MCL sprain has been fully rehabilitated, and Price will therefore get the nod ahead of last season’s netminder of choice Braden Holtby.
