The NHL had no other choice but to say something about the latest developments in the ongoing 2018 World Juniors sex scandal investigation.
That’s because A LOT happen last night when fans on social media noticed that goalie Carter Hart made his Instagram account private and removed “Flyers” from his bio. He also went dark on his account, which prompted much chatter on his involvement in the crime.
In addition to Hart, three other players on the 2018 Hockey Canada World Junior team have also gone dark on their Instagram accounts. Fans also pointed out that Brett Howden of the Vegas Golden Knights, Dillon Dube of the Calgary Flames, Jonah Gadjovich of the San Jose Sharks have also done the same.
Katie Strang has done a phenomenal job keeping fans udpated on the situation, and after reaching out to the London Police to know where the investigation stands, she spoke with NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly.
Last week, Daly was asked by Michael Russo of The Athletic where stood the investigation and the pending suspensions, hinting at a possible announcement ahead of the 2023-24 season, but didn’t say much besides stating that the investigation was ongoing.
On Friday, where contacted by Strang following the buzzing chatter about Hart, Howden, Dube and Gadjovich, Daly gave the same answer, basically.
“Nothing new to report.”
I have to say that I sincerely believe this needs to be resolved before the opening of training camps.
Clock is ticking…
