Team Canada loses to an underdog again, this time at the Spengler Cup

C'mon, boys! Get your act together red and white!

In case you missed it yesterday, Team Canada opened up the World Junior Championships with a 5-2 upset loss to the much lower seeded Czech Republic.

Canada got into penalty trouble early and some shaky goaltending put them behind the eight-ball midway through the game and, at that point, the Czechs simply clamped down as much as possible. The fact of the matter though is that Canada faced a bit of adversity and then they ultimately crumbled under the pressure. Not a good showing from the tournament favourites, but if you're going to have a stinker of a game... you may as well do it early in the tournament. Hopefully Canada can rebound tomorrow against Germany not only for their own sake, but for all of Canada's.

That's because Canada's Spengler Cup team also laid an egg in their first taste of tournament action.

Today Canada lost their opening game of the Spengler Cup to Sparta Prague yesterday and then dropped their second consecutive game earlier today, this time to tournament host HC Davos.

Canada is now 0-2 at the Spengler and 0-1 at the World Juniors... not a great holiday weekend for the boys in red and white...
