Tavares and Giordano name the best rink in the NHL.

The quality of ice around the National Hockey League is something that can greatly impact the way a game is played out and in recent years we have heard more and more about it with teams in the NHL often sharing their home arenas with other sports franchises. This can often result in poor ice conditions, something that this week gained quite a bit of attention in the city of Toronto.

Maple Leafs veterans Mitch Marner, John Tavares and Mark Giordano have all commented on the less than ideal conditions at the Maple Leafs home arena, Scotiabank Arena, but what about the arenas that they do enjoy? Recently both Giordano and Tavares revealed their personal favorites, but I am sad to say that both of their selections are no longer in use.

Tavares' personal favorite was Rexall Centre, the former home of the Edmonton Oilers.

"The new place is pretty good, too. The old place was the best by far," said Tavares as per the Toronto Star. "There was no comparison there."

As for Giordano, his personal favorite was the legendary Joe Louis Arena in the motor city of Detroit, Michigan.

"I used to love playing in Joe Louis in Detroit," revealed Giordano. "That was the best place for me."

As for the best of the current buildings? According to both Giordano and Tavares that honor belongs to the Montreal Canadiens and their home arena, the Bell Centre. Unsurprisingly it is one of the few arenas in the NHL that does not share its home with a professional sports franchise in another sport.

"Montreal’s probably the fastest now,” said Giordano. "I believe Alberta (Calgary and Edmonton) has gone downhill with their ice. I feel like both rinks aren’t as good as they used to be."

"Montreal always stands out to me," revealed Tavares.
