It was a roller-coaster game for the Dallas Stars, who might have won the game 6-4 over the Panthers in Florida, but lost goalie Scott Wedgewood to a scary incident. It was revealed that the netminder a severe back spasm, which forced him to be taken out on a stretcher.
In that same game, there was another play that caught the attention and even prompted Stars head coach Pete DeBoer to sound off on a rival player.
Late in the third period, his forward Mason Marchment got into it with Panthers’ Matthew Tkachuk and both players were sent to the penalty box. However, DeBoer was shocked when he found out that his Stars wouldn’t go on the power-play.
He revealed after the game the explanation he got from the officials and took the opportunity to take a shot and laugh at Tkachuk.
“They said Marchment instigated with Tkachuk, which, uh, might be the first time Tkachuk has been instigated on.”
Yes, Tkachuk: your reputation has followed you down South! It was clear that the Panthers’ forward was upset with the result of the game. But officials wanted to settle things in the last minutes, and no one got the advantage.
However, DeBoer got the last shot.
