Sonny Milano gets a big new contract on All-Star weekend.

The Washington Capitals have stolen some headlines during All-Star weekend with the announcement of a fairly significant move.

According to an official statement from the Capitals, the team has come to terms on a new deal for veteran forward Sonny Milano. The Capitals are reporting that this is a 3 year deal, one that carries an average annual value of $1.9 million, which brings the total value of the contract to $5.7 million.

Milano, a former first round pick (16th overall) of the Columbus Blue Jackets at the 2014 National Hockey League Entry Draft has bounced around quite a bit during his NHL career, never truly finding a long term fit on any one team. The Capitals are now the third NHL team he has played for behind the Blue Jackets and the Anaheim Ducks, and it seems he may have finally found a home with the Capitals.

Milano is in the midst of a strong season with 8 goals and 14 assists for a total of 22 points in 40 regular season games, and this new deal is an indication that the Capitals view him as a part of their plans moving forward, at least in the short term.
