TSN’s Rick Westhead has just reported on Friday morning that Noah Corson, son of former NHLer Shayne Corson, was found guilty today of sexually assaulting a teenager who was under the age of 16.

“Corson, who is now 25, was 18 at the time of the assault in the fall of 2016. He was not drafted into the NHL.
Two other hockey players, one of whom played with Corson for Drummondville, previously pleaded guilty in youth court to their roles in the assault. One of those players testified in Corson’s trial, Le Journal de Montreal reported.
Corson’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 3.”

The story first came to light in December, 2022 when Corson was charged with “sexually assaulting a woman who was under the age of 16” stemming from allegations during his time in the QMJHL. The documents, obtained on Tuesday by TSN, indicate that an alleged sexual assault took place between Oct. 1, 2016, and Jan. 1, 2017, in Drummondville, Que.

Westhead has reported that the assault took place in Drummondville, Quebec during Corson’s time with the Drummondville Voltigeurs during the 2016-17 QMJHL season and that all parties were under the age of 18. Corson has been implicated in the alleged crime along with two as of yet unnamed teammates:

“After spending part of the evening in a restaurant, the woman and three men moved to the alleged victim’s home where she was allegedly sexually assaulted while one of the defendants recorded a video using his cellphone, Radio Canada reported, adding that the woman later recognized the hockey players when she attended a Voltigeurs game and saw photos of the players on the arena wall”

In 2022, Corson signed an AHL contract with Utica, the New Jersey Devils’ American Hockey League affiliate, but was not drafted into the NHL following his junior career and has mostly split his pro career between the ECHL and the SPHL.

The Utica Comments wrote in a statement Tuesday night that the team was aware of the sexual assault allegations against Corson.

“Corson’s agent has informed the organization that Noah will be taking an indefinite leave of absence, effective immediately,” the Comets said. “The organization has no further comment at this time.”

He had not been playing this season, most likely because of the ongoing trial.
