Slap Shot's Steve 'Hanson' shares a cancer update.
Steve Carlson shares an update for the fans.
Long time hockey fans and fans of the legendary Slap Shot movie were given a bit of a scare a little over a year ago when former National Hockey League forward Steve Carlson, who famously plays one third of the Hanson Brothers as Steve Hanson in the movie Slap Shot, was diagnosed with throat cancer.
At the time Carlson vowed that he would beat the disease and, given the legendary toughness of the Hanson Brothers, many believed him.
“I said, ‘I’m going to beat this thing. I’m going to beat it. I’m not going to sit down and watch this take me,’ ” Carlson told Spectrum News about his battle with Cancer in December.
So far Carlson has kept his word, with an update in July of 2022 that informed fans that his stage 4 cancer had gone into remission.
This week, Carlson again spoke to his fans through social media to share an update on his health and I am thankful to be able to report that once again it is good news. According to Carlson's latest scan, which was reportedly done the very morning this video was recorded, his cancer remains in remission.
"I just wanted to give you an update on my year end check up," said Carlson. "This morning we did a scan and I am happy to state that it came back negative, I am cancer free still."
You can hear the latest update from the legendary Hanson brother himself, in his own words, in the short clip below.
