Sidney Crosby’s mother got involved in Penguins’ business!
Who knows if she could do it again? Check out what happened in Pittsburgh:
You already know that former scrappy forward and now host Paul Bissonnette has great stories about pretty much everyone in the National Hockey League, and that includes superstar forward Sidney Crosby. Biz and Sid were teammates in Pittsburgh when the former made his debut with the Pittsburgh after three campaigns in the AHL. At that time, Bissonnette wore No. 67 and was known for being feisty and often dropping the gloves.
When he joined the Penguins during the preseason, Bissonnette fought during an exhibition game and the tilt was seen by Sidney Crosby’s mother. She thought her son had gotten involved in a scrap because the numbers looked similar. And boy, she did not like it.
This led to the Penguins asking Bissonnette to change his number from 67 to 16 even though he only ended up playing just 15 games with Pittsburgh.
This is an hilarious story coming from Biz, who went on to play his scrappy style with the Arizona Coyotes without having to alter his jersey number for anyone.
Now busy on the Spittin’ Chiclets podcast and co-hosting many game nights on TNT, Bissonnette has many platforms onto which he can share these great stories.
It’s been mentioned more than once in the past how Sidney Crosby has some say in what Penguins management does when he comes to hockey moves. Who knew his mother did too?
