Insider Kevin Weekes probably didn’t anticipate that one of his posts from his Twitter account would create this much commotion. On Wednesday morning, ahead of the All-Star celebrations this weekend, Weekes revealed how Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby had recruited his close friend Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche. The sentence does not stop there: Crosby will be teaming up with MacKinnon in the new Skills Competition event : The Splash Shot Challenge.
But Weekes’ tweet got fans thinking there was a possibility to Crosby and MacKinnon being on the same roster, especially with the trade deadline getting closer.
Both the Avalanche and Penguins are in the playoff race and expected to be buyers at the deadline. There is a constant hope from the NHL fanbase that one day, both star forwards will be on the same roster, though it sounds almost impossible.
The start of Weekes’ tweet was just wishful thinking, but who can blame anyone hoping to see Sid and Nate play together?
Crosby is apparently not the only one recruiting. Once Weekes shared the The Splash Shot Challenge, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period revealed that Florida Panthers’ Matthew Tkachuk is also taking part in the challenge and could recuit his young brother Brady Tkachuk of the Ottawa Senators for another cool association at the All-Star festivities.
This will be one challenge to watch!
