Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is always generous with reporters and it was no different during his press conference before the All-Star Skills competition on Friday.
Crosby had some fun with media members, especially when he was asked about what Washington Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin recently said on having a few beers once he and Sid retire.
“Oh yeah. We have a lot to catch up on.”
Crosby got serious when talking about his NHL opponents, also present at the All-Star weekend, praising Edmonton Oilers’ captain Connor McDavid and giving props to the Boston Bruins this season.
However, he made the biggest statement of them all when speaking about projected first overall pick Connor Bedard extended his points streak to 35 games and his goal streak to 11 this week.
Crosby is clear about how he felt about Bedard, with whom he skated with his summer and was blown away by someone being so skilled that young.
“No weaknesses.”
And that’s one of the best in the game saying so!
Bedard was the first player to earn exceptional status in the WHL after scoring 43 goals and 84 points in 36 games for West Van Academy Prep’s U18 team, leading the Canadian Sports School Hockey League (CSSHL) in scoring and earning MVP honours as a 14 year old.
That’s incredible and he just keeps going.
Sid knows what this kid can bring to the NHL and he did not hold back about what he thinks of Bedard.
Respect.
