Sidney Crosby gets in touch with Connor Bedard during the offseason!
Despite the chance of being competitors on the NHL’s opening night…

It’s been known across the National Hockey League that first overall pick Connor Bedard has idolized Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby growing up.
Prior to the draft, in which the Chicago Blackhawks selected Bedard first overall, it was ironically announced that it’s very possible Bedard would skate in his first ever NHL game against Crosby and the Penguins on opening night.
Bedard admitted he couldn’t believe it when the schedule was confirmed, and so, can you imagine how he felt when he received a congratulatory text from Crosby following the draft.
He probably had to pinch himself. The first overall pick explained how it was cool that Crosby reached out and said he is one of the best to ever do it.
Now I have to say I’m not surprised Crosby would pull such of move towards the first overall pick. He did the same thing to his Penguins’ 14 overall selection, Brayden Yager, on Draft night.
The Penguins’ captain is pure class! But at the same time, I cannot wait to see how he welcomes Bedard to the league when both forwards meet on NHL ice.
