One of the more adorable moments of the 2023-24 National Hockey League season was an interaction between New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin and his young son Timofey who was standing behind the glass and looking on as his dad hit the ice.

Shesterkin and Timofey would go viral after Timofey appeared to point back down the ice, seemingly telling dad to get back in the net and play some hockey.

That was adorable enough on its own, but during a recent Russian language interview, Shesterkin would reveal that his son wasn't actually telling him to get back in the net. Instead, the young boy was simply asking for his father who he knew he could access through a nearby tunnel.

"That was a fun video but he wasn't actually showing me to the net," revealed Shesterkin. "That was more of a joke and actually he just knows that there's a hallway that we go through to the locker room and he'd show me 'Go to that hallway' so he can high-five me."

You can hear Igor Shesterkin discuss his thoughts on his viral moment with his son in the short clip below, English subtitles are included.
