Sheldon Keefe provides official update on Mitch Marner.
The head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs shared an update on his injured star forward.
The Toronto Maple Leafs were forced to make significant adjustments to their lineup over the weekend due to a combination of trades and also due to the injury suffered by star forward Mitch Marner.
At the time Sheldon Keefe made it sound like Marner could be back any day, listing him as day to day, but an update from the head coach on Monday has confirmed that Marner is going to be out a little while longer. In his latest update, Keefe indicated that he expects Marner to miss Thursday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
"We think this time is important for him, but day-to-day from that point," admitted Keefe on Monday.
Marner appeared to suffer the injury last week after he took an awkward fall against the Boston Bruins, you can see the fall that I believe caused this injury in the short clip below.
Keefe will likely have to once again get creative with his lineup if Marner is indeed out of the lineup on Thursday.
