Sheldon Keefe calls out Matt Rempe after win on Saturday.

Scotiabank Arena was the sight of a highly anticipated clash between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Rangers on Saturday night, thanks in large part to an expected clash between enforcers Ryan Reaves and Matt Rempe that did not disappoint when it finally happened.

Although the game itself proved to be an entertaining back and forth affair, it was clear that not everyone left the arena happy after everything was all said and done. Among those unhappy customers was Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe, who went out of his way to call out Rangers rookie forward Matt Rempe following the conclusion of the game.

Keefe took exception to the hit that Rempe delivered to Maple Leafs defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin in the final minutes of the game's second period, a hit that resulted in an injury for Lyubushkin.

"Comes a long way. Leaves his feet. Hits him in the head. Injury," said Keefe while shrugging his shoulders in obvious frustration.

"Injuring players starting to get up as many as the fights now."

Keefe would also add that he felt Reaves' decision to go after Rempe was warranted, given that he had injured Lyubushkin earlier in the game.

"I thought it was good, especially considering the guy knocks one of our guys out of the game," said Keefe.

These two teams will not meet again during the regular season, so if this rivalry is to continue this season it will have to come during the Stanley Cup playoffs.
