Despite some reports this past weekend that Seattle Kraken forward and 4th overall selection Shane Wright had been traded to the OHL's London Knights, it appears that in fact Wright will be heading to the Windsor Spitfires.
Wright, of course, was shipped to the OHL's Kingston Frontenacs by the Kraken following his impressive gold medal performance at the 2023 World Junior Championships. Wright captained Canada to its second consecutive gold medal and ended up with four goals and seven points in seven games during the tournament.
This past weekend it was reported by Ken Campbell, formerly of The Hockey News, had been traded to the OHL's London Knights in exchange for defenseman Oliver Bonk, son of former NHLer Radek Bonk, and six (!!!) draft picks.
Then... well... nothing happened.
Now, Scott Wheeler of The Athletic is reporting that Wright is headed to the Spitfires and not the Knights.
Check it out:
Wheeler is now reporting that Wright has been shipped to the Spitfires for forward Ethan Miedema and a package of draft picks.
TSN insider Darren Dreger has also confirmed that Wright will be headed to Windsor.
To me, that's about as much confirmation as I need. Sure, guys like Campbell and Wheeler have both reported on this, but until I hear it from a trusted reporter like Dreger I don't know what to believe.
