Sens owner Michael Andlauer takes a shot at Gary Bettman.

The owner of the Ottawa Senators took a not-so-subtle shot at NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.

If you thought the Ottawa Senators, and more specifically Ottawa Senators owner Michael Andlauer had moved on from how they were treated immediately following the transfer of ownership from the estate of Eugene Melnyk to Andlauer's ownership group, think again.

After Andlauer took over ownership of the team he was blindsided by a massive penalty that was the result of infractions under the previous ownership group, a penalty that included the loss of a coveted first round draft selection.

This week, when speaking to reporters in French, Andlauer took a not-so-subtler shot at the league's commissioner. bringing up the penalty that many had felt was unjust to impose on a new ownership group.

"It was a very busy year with a couple of speed bumps," said Andlauer of his first season as an owner. "When Gary Bettman called me last night I said 'Oh boy I hope that I haven't lost another first round draft pick for next year.'"

You can hardly blame Andlauer for being frustrated at the situation given that he claims he was not informed of the potential penalty before purchasing the team, and given the value of first round draft picks in the National Hockey League.

It seems his comments also resonated well with his fan base, with several fans responding positively to Andlauer's comments on social media.

I suspect that the league's commissioner might have a slightly different reaction to these comments, but they hardly seem as harsh as the penalty that was imposed on Andlauer and his ownership group following his purchase of the team.
