The captain of the Ottawa Senators is not happy with the fan base in Ottawa, although one could certainly argue that right now there is a mutual dislike between those fans and the members of their favorite hockey team.

On Saturday night, the Senators faced off against the Tampa Bay Lightning and unfortunately for the Sens it was a contest that would result in yet another early season defeat. Even before the Senators hit the ice however the fans at the Canadian Tire Center, the Senators home arena, were letting the team know that they weren't happy.

It all began with chants demanding that the head coach, D.J. Smith, be fired just days after the team already fired general manager Pierre Dorion.

By the time the game had ended things weren't any better, with the Senators and their coach being booed out of the building by their own fans after losing by a score of 6-4.

Following the game, Senators captain Brady Tkachuk was asked about the response from the fans in the building and it was very clear that he was not happy about what he had heard.

"It's frustrating and whenever you don't win it's frustrating," said Tkachuk of the response from the fans. "it's frustrating, the negativity from the outside, the constant booing and the bulls--t, kind of, from the crowd tonight.

"I understand that they're [a] passionate fan base and I understand that they love it, but when you face adversity you don't turn your back on the guys out there. We're playing hard, I know it's frustrating right now. It's not like we're giving up out there, we're fighting right to the very end.

"To be honest, that was very frustrating tonight."

Unfortunately for Tkachuk and the Senators, it is clear that fans in Ottawa expect more under their new ownership group and it sounds like they aren't afraid to demand it loudly and publicly.
