Last week, there were rumours that former NHL pest Sean Avery was mounting a comeback. The former Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers and Dallas Stars forward hasn’t skated since his final season in the NHL with the Rangers in 2012, but he’s been hitting the ice lately and on Thursday, he confirmed on the Blackballed podcast that he was indeed hoping to return to the NHL.

Avery hasn’t played since the 2011-12 season, but explained how he recently had a sudden urge to start playing with his friends again. And then turned into a desire to return to play in the NHL, which he is now attempting to pull off.

Avery already set a plan in motion to make a comeback possible. He estimates he has about 7 months to regain his former shape and level of fitting before earning an invite to an NHL team’s training camp next spring.

The feisty forward will turn 42 years old in September, recorded just 3 goals in 15 games with the Rangers in 2012 on top of picking up 21 penalty minutes.

Here are the explanations from the man himself on how he is setting things into motion to earn an NHL contract.

Would you want your team to sign him?
