Every few years hockey fans get a sneak peak at “The Next One”. Superstars like Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid have been in the public eye since they were 15 or 16 years old. Scouts have had their sights set on projected 2020 first overall pick Alexis Lafrenière for a couple years already. Because of the age we live in and because so much of our lives are on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, it’s easier now more than ever for young players to get noticed.
Enter: Aito Iguchi.

Iguchi has since moved to Canada for further development and has teamed up with skills coach Pavel Barber in his pursuit of achieving his NHL dream. Now 15 years old, Iguchi plays for the Langley Rivermen AAA team in Langley, British Columbia, but could reportedly be taking his game to the famed Greater Toronto Hockey League for next season. After that he’ll be eligible for the 2020 CHL Import Draft.
Here’s what Iguchi is up to now:
Yowza… that’s some serious skill. In fact, some NHL scouts have already noticed Iguchi for his creative and undeniable skill. You can bet that he’ll have scouts pouring over his every move this upcoming season. The 15 year old is eligible for the 2021 NHL Entry Draft and, this should go without saying, could potentially be the first Japanese born player to be drafted in the first round of the NHL Draft.
