Sabres’ Lindy Ruff takes shot at Senators for deceit in Cozens-Norris trade!
And Ottawa and Buffalo are facing off later tonight! Get the full story below:
Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff told WGR550 radio in Buffalo that forward Josh Norris will not get the chance to face his former team, the Ottawa Senators, as he remains sidelined with a middle-body injury.
The head coach then added on the air of TSN 1200 that “Norris is dealing with an injury he brought with him from Ottawa. He is working through it, but he won’t play until he is ready.” Many saw Ruff’s comments at taking a shot at the Senators for miscommunicating Norris’ status ahead of the trade that sent him to Buffalo, along with defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker, in return for Dylan Cozens, defenseman Dennis Gilbert and a 2026 second-round pick.
Norris has been out since March 13 and has put up just one goal and one assist in three games with the Sabres. He had collected 20 goals and 33 points in 53 games with Ottawa before the trade.
When it comes to Cozens, he’s having a strong start as the new member of the Senators, recording hree goals and seven points in eight games since the trade. He had 11 goals and 20 points in 61 games this season in Buffalo.
This is a crucial game for the Senators who are entering it sitting in the top wild-card spot with a five-point cushion on the New York Islander and New York Rangers. The Montreal Canadiens are holding on to the final wild-card spot, while the Sabres sit last in the Eastern Conference, 13 points back of the Habs.
I feel like Ruff’s comments is going to add another layer of intensity to the game tonight in Buffalo.
