Sabres fans boo their own player Mattias Samuelsson as he’s honoured on the jumbotron

Brutal! The fanbase in Buffalo has had enough and the poor players are paying for it. Full story below:

On Tuesday night, the Buffalo Sabres hosted the Senators and Ottawa did not waste any time getting on the scoreboard. Captain Brady Tkachuk scored in the first two minutes of play and right away, the Sabres’ fans had it.

In the first TV timeout, the Sabres celebrated defenseman Mattias Samuelsson, who is playing his 200th career game tonight. He was selected by Buffalo in the second round, 32nd overall in 2018 and probably thought he would get a nice ovation from the local fans.

But he didn’t. When he was honoured and appeared on the jumbotron, fans booed his accomplishment.

That’s just brutal. The Sabres have been struggling for years, and it just feels like nothing can fix it.

Ahead of Tuesday night’s action, Buffalo sat last in the Atlantic division with just 62 points, way out of the playoff picture once again.

I kinda get why the fans in Buffalo have had enough though I feel bad for Samuelsson, who did not deserve the heat.

Fortunately for the Sabres, they managed to tie the game before the end of the first period thanks to a tally by Jack Quinn.
