Ryan Reaves sounds off on fighting Rangers’ Matt Rempe on Saturday!
The Maple Leafs host the Rangers tomorrow.

New York Rangers rookie Matt Rempe has already fought close to four times since his NHL career got underway earlier this week. He's challenged New Jersey Devils’ Jonas Siegenthaler, and he's dropped the gloves against New York Islanders’ Matt Martin, Philadelphia Flyers’ Nic Deslauriers and Columbus Blue Jackets’ Mathieu Olivier, and has shown the scars of his battles.
The Rangers are in Toronto this weekend to face the Maple Leafs on Saturday, and ahead of the matchup, media members wanted to know if Leafs enforcer Ryan Reaves had something in store for Rempe. They asked Toronto’s tough guy is he plans on fighting the Rangers’ rookie tomorrow, to which Reaves answered back with a grin:
“I don’t have the game script, but you never know.”
Rempe is averaging more penalty minutes than ice time through six career NHL games and fighting a heavy weight like Reaves could be quite the challenge for him. The young forward has clearly shown that he is not afraid to go against big tough guys and has clearly been trying to make a name for himself. Taking on one of the toughest guy out there in Reaves on Hockey Night in Canada might be the ultimate way to get everyone’s attention.
Reaves, who’s missed quite a bit of time with a knee injury, has found it hard to stay in the Maple Leafs’ lineup when healthy. He’s been doing well all February and went viral earlier this week when he dropped Arizona Coyotes enforcer Liam O’Brien in a spirited bout.
You can tell in the short interview with media how Reaves loves the spotlight and his reputation as a tough opponent in a hockey fight. I’m sure he is already looking forward to drop the gloves in front of Rempe and teach the kid a lesson in order to remind the NHL he’s still the heavyweight champ.
Let’s see what happens on Saturday!
