Rumours are blowing up when it comes to Pierre-Luc Dubois!
Offers, sign and trade, and way too many suitors!

Earlier this month, reports emerged that Pierre-Luc Dubois’ agent Pat Brisson had informed the Winnipeg Jets about his client’s attentions as the forward is reportedly not even inclined to sign an extension, not even a one-year bridge deal this offseason. The Jets are therefore exploring the options of trading or signing and trading Dubois, and whilst for some time the Montreal Canadiens were front-runners to land the forward and bring him home, rumours are now blowing up and linking Dubois to several suitors.
“Activity around the Winnipeg Jets is definitely picking up this week,” explained Darren Dreger on Insider Trading on TSN last night. As for Pierre-Luc Dubois, it’s not just a two-horse race, it’s not just the Montreal Canadiens and the Los Angeles Kings, there are other teams who are involved. We know the LA Kings have cap issues, the Canadiens had made it clear that this isn’t going to be extortion via trade, they can wait if necessary for when Pierre-Luc Dubois becomes an unrestricted free agent in a year.”
Dreger's colleague Pierre LeBrun also mentioned how the market was growing for Dubois in his latest column in the Athletic:
“League sources have confirmed to me that agent Pat Brisson of CAA Hockey has a list that includes other teams, not just Montreal and L.A., as he and the Jets fully explore what I believe is a pretty robust market for the RFA center.”
The Jets might wait for the perfect suitor for a blockbuster deal, especially since the same thing might take place with goalie Connor Hellebuyck, but that does not mean something won't take place on the Draft floor next Wednesday in Nashville.
Dubois still has some control over his future seeing the he would have to agree in principle to the long-term contract presented in a potential sign-and-trade. The Jets would get a huge return if an eight-year contract is in place and they can ship him to the right suitor, for the right price. While the Kings aren’t the only contenders in this sweepstakes, Los Angeles could use blue liner Brandt Clarke and forwards Quinton Byfield and Gabriel Vilardi as trade baits.
The chatter is getting louder, which means a blockbuster move could be coming soon to Winnipeg... Stay tuned.
