Rumor: NHL finally losing patience with the Arizona Coyotes.

The Arizona Coyotes are unquestionably the National Hockey League's most dysfunctional team. Although team's like the Vancouver Canucks this season have given them a run for their money over the course of an individual season, no team has consistently had as many problems as the team located in the desert.

In spite of their monumental struggles over the years the Coyotes franchise has continued to earn the seemingly undying support of the NHL and it's commissioner Gary Bettman, but perhaps for the first time in a very long time that support is starting to waiver.

On Friday, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that there is a growing sense of discontent with the Coyotes around the league, and more importantly that the discontent has reached all the way to the upper echelons of the league. Things are so bad in fact that the situation with the Coyotes may become a topic of discussion at the upcoming NHL general managers' meetings and beyond.

"The other thing I really think is coming up is Arizona," said Friedman on the 32 Thoughts podcast. "But I'm not convinced that's a GM issue, I think that's a board of governor issue if the other owners are particularly upset about it."

Now I know what a lot of you are probably thinking. With the way that he has supported the Coyotes over the years there is no way that the aforementioned Gary Bettman would be willing to throw in the towel and admit defeat. The problem for the NHL commissioner is that he has to answer to the league's owners, and Friedman revealed that some high placed sources have confirmed to him that at least some of the owners are very unhappy with the situation in Arizona.

"I'll say this, I've had a couple of GMs who tell me their owners are not happy about it," said Friedman.

It sounds like the Coyotes may soon be besieged from every side as well, with Friedman also indicating that the owners aren't alone in this sentiment.

"I'll tell you this," said Friedman. "I know that there are some agents and players who do feel very strongly about that, we'll see where it goes."
