The Detroit Red Wings have been without captain Dylan Larkin for the last pair of games against the New York Rangers and Chicago Blackhawks, though it appears as though he is on the verge of returning to the lineup.
The Red Wings have sent down forward Jonatan Berggren to the American Hockey League affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins, opening the door for Larkin's return.
Larkin announced tragic news earlier this morning, as he and his wife lost their unborn child.
Larkin had appeared in all 20 of Detroit's games this season prior to Wednesday night, scoring eight goals with 13 assists for a full-season pace of 86 points.
