Ron MacLean slammed by Toronto journalist on Sunday.

The voice of many Canadian National Hockey League broadcasts faced some harsh criticism on Sunday.

Although your average hockey fan may not necessarily have taken notice, there has been a seemingly growing segment of the National Hockey League's fan base that appears to be running out of patience with longtime voice of hockey on Hockey Night in Canada, Ron MacLean.

MacLean has served in his role as a presenter for many, many years, with MacLean most famously being one half of the Coach's Corner segment that was formerly hosted by NHL legend Don Cherry. Despite his tenure however it seems as though fan sentiment has quickly begun to turn against MacLean over the years with yet another example coming to the forefront on Sunday.

MacLean recently participated in a segment alongside Rogers CEO Tony Staffieri and Rogers executive chairman Edward Rodgers. That segment was to discuss the fact that Rodgers had bought out Bell Media when it comes to their stake in Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment, but it would seem not everyone was a fan of MacLean's decision to host the segment.

In a recent article for the Toronto Sun, controversial Toronto columnist Steve Simmons had some rather harsh words fore MacLean.

From Simmons:

Ron MacLean should have said no. But clearly, his own self-respect has disappeared over time. He didn’t have to participate in that dog-and-pony show interview with Ed Rogers and Tony Staffieri after the huge sale at MLSE.
MacLean has been around long enough to have walked away from that embarrassing infomercial.

While this likely won't be a huge deal to the average hockey fan, it will only add to the seemingly ever growing wave of criticism being directed at MacLean. That waive of criticism began when MacLean failed to support longtime friend and co-host Don Cherry when he was unceremoniously fired from the position he had held for decades, a decision that some agreed with and others found to be highly controversial.

MacLean added fuel to that fire when he celebrated Don Cherry's birthday earlier this year, only to be publicly called out by Cherry's son for doing so in dishonest fashion.

It seems as though MacLean simply can't catch a break these days, and you have to wonder if this is the last we have heard of the seemingly ever growing amount of criticism being directed his way.
