Reports of a big trade between Canucks and Stars tonight
The NHL's trade season is on, baby!
According to a report from Vancouver Canucks insider Adam Kierszenblat, the Dallas Stars and the Canucks are working on a deal revolving around forward Pius Suter. Kierszenblat reports that the deal could even happen tonight, once the Stars' game against the New Jersey Devils concludes.
Check it out:
No word yet on what the Canucks could be getting in return, but they're not likely to get much more than a pick and/or a prospect. The 28 year old Suter is on an expiring contract and is expected to seek a longer term deal as a free agent this upcoming offseason.
Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal reported earlier today that the Canucks and Suter's agent are far apart in contract negotiations.
Suter has been a solid player for the Canucks the past two seasons, scoring 29 points in 67 games last season and 16 goals and 28 points through 59 games this season. All for $1.6 million per season... not bad.
Stay tuned for further reports on the full details of this potential trade.
